Robert Waters

Robert Waters was born in 1974 in London, Canada, and raised in the small town of Parkhill in rural Southwestern Ontario. In 1993 he was accepted on scholarship to York University in Toronto to study Visual Arts. While at York, he was curator of Winters Gallery, and participated on an exchange program to Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK.

After graduating from York in 1998 with honours, Robert continued making art while living in Toronto. He worked as a graphic designer, picture framer, and professional installer before spending five years as assistant director of Miriam Shiell Fine Art, an esteemed secondary market gallery.

In 2005 Robert held his first solo exhibition, 'Man', at Toronto's p|m Gallery, followed by an exhibition at Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City. The following year Robert exhibited with Satchel Gallery in Toronto, and at MOT in London, UK.

In 2007 Robert moved to Mexico City to focus on his art practice and to learn Spanish. He has since held his second solo exhibition, 'Loincloth', at p|m Gallery, and participated in exhibitions at Pakhuset in Denmark, and the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

In March 2008, Robert is participating in the exhibition ‘Shake Before Using’ at Artium museum in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. In August 2008 he will exhibit at Casa Vecina, and in September 2009 at EXteresa Arte Actual, both in the ‘centro historico’ of Mexico City.
